This Privacy Policy explains how Caller Name Talker & Alert ("the App", "we", "us", "our"), package com.callalert.flash.announcer, handles information when you use it. By installing or using the App you agree to this Policy.
The short version
- The App speaks the name of incoming callers and reads SMS aloud. This announcement processing happens on your device.
- To do this, the App needs permission to detect calls, read the phone number, read your contacts, and read incoming SMS. We do not upload your contacts or message content to our own servers.
- The App is free and supported by ads. It includes third-party SDKs — Google AdMob, Google Firebase, Adjust, and the Meta (Facebook) SDK — that collect device and advertising identifiers as described below.
- We show a consent prompt (Google's User Messaging Platform) where required by law before serving personalized ads.
- You can reset your Advertising ID, revoke permissions, or contact us to exercise your privacy rights at any time.
1. Information We Process Directly
Call & contact information
When your phone rings, the App reads the incoming phone number (via the phone-state permission) and looks it up in your contacts (via the contacts permission) so it can speak the caller's name. This lookup and the text-to-speech conversion happen locally on your device. We do not transmit your contact list or call history to our servers.
SMS content
If you enable the SMS Reader, the App reads incoming text messages so it can announce the sender and, optionally, the message content aloud. Message content is processed on your device for the purpose of the announcement and is not sent to or stored on our servers.
Battery & device status
The App reads the device battery level and charging state to provide fully-charged, low-battery, and charging announcements. This information stays on your device.
App settings
Your preferences — speech speed, repeat settings, silent/vibrate modes, exclusion lists, selected call theme, and which features are turned on — are stored locally on your device.
Permissions the App requests
| Permission | Why the App needs it |
|---|---|
| Phone / Read phone state | Detect incoming calls and read the caller's number so the name can be announced. |
| Contacts | Match an incoming number to a saved contact name for the spoken announcement. |
| SMS (receive/read) | Read incoming messages so the sender and content can be announced aloud (SMS Reader feature). |
| Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | Show the App's foreground/service notification and alerts on Android 13+. |
| Camera flash / torch | Blink the flashlight for the Flash Notifications feature. The App does not capture photos or record video. |
| Run at startup / foreground service | Keep the announcer ready to speak even when the screen is off. |
| Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) | Allow ad partners to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent. |
You can grant or revoke any of these at Settings → Apps → Caller Name Talker & Alert → Permissions. Revoking a permission disables the related feature.
2. Third-Party SDKs We Use
The App embeds the following third-party software development kits. These partners may process device and advertising identifiers to provide analytics, crash reporting, install attribution, and advertising. We disclose each below so it matches our Google Play Data safety declaration.
| SDK / Operator | Purpose | Data processed | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Google LLC |
Analytics, Crashlytics crash reporting, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config. | App instance ID, device model, OS version, language, country, screen views, anonymized events, crash stack traces. | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google AdMob Google LLC |
Serving ads in the free app. | Google Advertising ID, coarse IP-derived location, ad-interaction events. Personalized vs. non-personalized ads depend on your consent. | policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
| Adjust Adjust GmbH (an AppLovin company) |
Install attribution and fraud prevention. | Advertising ID, hashed device fingerprint, install timestamp, conversion events. | adjust.com/terms/privacy-policy |
| Meta (Facebook) SDK Meta Platforms, Inc. |
Ad attribution and measurement. Not used for Facebook login or profile access. | Advertising ID, app install/open events, conversion events. | facebook.com/about/privacy |
Advertising consent
Where required by law (for example under GDPR in the EEA/UK or CCPA in California), the App presents Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before serving personalized ads. If you decline, you will receive non-personalized ads instead.
Your choices regarding these SDKs
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID — Settings → Privacy → Ads (path varies by device). You can also opt out of ad personalization there.
- Change consent — reopen the in-app privacy/consent option to review or withdraw your ad-personalization choice.
- Limit analytics — email us to request that we disable analytics collection tied to your app instance where technically feasible.
3. What We Do Not Collect
- We do not upload your contact list, call log, or SMS content to our own servers.
- We do not collect precise (GPS) location.
- We do not capture photos, record video, or record audio. The camera permission is used only to toggle the flashlight/torch.
- We do not collect payment card data — the App is free and does not sell in-app purchases.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to data brokers.
Note: because the App is ad-supported, the advertising and analytics SDKs listed in Section 2 are our advertising and measurement partners and receive the identifiers described there.
4. How We Use Information
- To announce incoming callers, read SMS aloud, and deliver battery and flash alerts.
- To remember your settings and preferences on your device.
- To measure app performance and diagnose crashes (Firebase).
- To attribute installs and prevent ad fraud (Adjust, Meta SDK).
- To serve and measure advertising that keeps the App free (AdMob), subject to consent.
- To respond to your support requests.
5. Sharing & Third Parties
We share limited information only with:
- Google — Play distribution, Firebase, and AdMob advertising.
- Adjust — install attribution.
- Meta Platforms — ad attribution and measurement.
- Legal / safety — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights and safety.
6. Data Retention
- On-device data (settings, exclusion lists) — retained until you clear it or uninstall the App.
- Firebase Analytics — up to 14 months (Google default).
- Firebase Crashlytics — up to 90 days per crash record.
- Adjust — up to 24 months.
- Meta SDK — approximately 2 years.
- AdMob — per Google's advertising-platform defaults.
- Support emails — up to 24 months.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, email devapp.aero+callernametalkeralert@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. You can opt out of ad personalization at any time via Settings → Privacy → Ads on your device.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the third-party SDKs are not configured for child-directed treatment. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Users
The App and its SDK providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Security
Your data on the device is protected by the Android application sandbox, scoped storage, and the Android Keystore where applicable. Communication between the SDKs and their servers uses encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in-app or in the Google Play release notes. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
